Total IgE Blood Tests

Immunoglobulin E (IgE) are antibodies produced by the immune system. If you have an allergy, your immune system overreacts to an allergen by producing antibodies called IgE. These antibodies travel to cells that release chemicals, causing an allergic reaction. A high IgE can be a sign that the body is overreacting to allergens, which can lead to an allergic reaction. IgE levels can also be high when the body is fighting an infection from a parasite and from some immune system conditions.
